However, L’Equipe reports that Victor Wembanyama has made the difficult decision to forgo participating in the Basketball World Cup with the France national team. Instead, he has chosen to focus on his new venture with the Spurs in the United States. This decision is described as both difficult and irrevocable by the French publication. The World Cup is scheduled to take place from August 25 to September 10 in Indonesia and the Philippines.

The San Antonio Spurs prioritize taking care of their prized rookie. Considering his intense season with Metropolitans 92 and his history of injuries during the 2021/22 campaign. Which limited his participation to just 16 out of 34 games with ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne.

In light of this, the NBA franchise is even willing to limit Wembanyama’s involvement in the Summer League, demonstrating their commitment to his well-being and development.
