Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is to join on a free transfer to Marseille, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Ligue 1 team and Chelsea have reached an agreement, and the former Arsenal striker is expected to sign a three-year contract on Thursday after passing his physical.
When it comes to lowering the size of their roster this summer, Chelsea has made significant progress. With Aubameyang about to become the 13th permanent departure, they have already allowed 12 players to leave. Only 11 of the striker’s 21 appearances during the previous campaign were starts.
Aubameyang joined the Blues in 2022, but due to his form and fitness issues, he was only able to score three goals for the team overall. His prior Ligue 1 experience includes 120 appearances for Saint-Etienne, Dijon, Lille, and Monaco. In those games, the striker scored 41 goals.
Aubameyang will have his medical on Thursday. If everything goes according to plan, he should be named a Marseille player later this week.
