The Nuggets’ locker room buzzed with jubilation following the game. Despite Jokić’s calm demeanour during the celebrations, he had an amusing mishap. Nikola Jokic accidentally left the Finals MVP trophy in the room of Sparky Gonzales, the Nuggets’ equipment manager. When he realized his mistake and went back to retrieve the trophy, he found that it had disappeared. Jokić shared this incident during an interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews.

Thankfully, the story had a happy ending. Andrews later reported that Gonzales had the trophy in his possession and it would be ready for the Nuggets’ championship parade on Thursday. During the postgame ceremonies, Jokić didn’t display an overly possessive attitude towards the trophy. At one point, Nuggets guard Bruce Brown was seen holding it on stage because Jokić had temporarily left it there while greeting his family.
While the search for the trophy was ongoing, Jokić’s focus remained on his priorities, which were evident throughout the Nuggets’ playoff journey. Even now that the season is over, he is genuinely concerned about returning to his native Serbia in time for a horse race scheduled for Sunday.
