Mike Tyson Admits Missing the Spotlight

Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson recently admitted that he misses being an active fighter. Also being the centre of attention after working as part of the promotional team for the Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury fight in Saudi Arabia last February.

Tyson realized his longing for the spotlight while at the weigh-in for the crossover bout, stating on his podcast Hotboxin’ that “I miss this stuff, I didn’t think I’d miss it until I was at the weigh-in in Saudi Arabia for [Paul-Fury].”

Despite generating solid numbers. The Paul vs Fury fight paled in comparison to Tyson’s past blockbuster fights. His fight with Lennox Lewis generated $112 million in total revenue.

There were talks of a potential Mike Tyson vs Paul fight, but Paul decided against stepping into the ring with the former undisputed heavyweight world title holder. Tyson, who came out of retirement for an exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr in 2020, has not fought professionally since.

Meanwhile, Paul is scheduled to compete against former UFC star Nate Diaz in August at the American Airlines Centre in his first fight since losing to Fury. The contest will take place at a catchweight of 185lbs, even though Diaz has never competed higher than 170lbs during his MMA career.
