Liverpool worries about Darwin Nunez injury ahead of Real Madrid clash

Liverpool suffered just one setback in their 2-0 victory at Newcastle. Darwin Nunez’ injury became a reason for his replacement by Jurgen Klopp in the 60th minute as a precaution after suffering a severe injury in a collision with Kieran Trippier.

Now Liverpool is in a situation where the team is anxious about him playing against Real Madrid for the Champions League action.

“The bad news is that Darwin has something on his shoulder so we’ll have to see,” manager Jurgen Klopp said. “He had to go off with that issue and we need further assessment. I don’t know [the extent] in this moment. In this moment it is painful. Hopefully it is just painful and nothing more. We have to see how serious that is – hopefully not too much.”

Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah appear to be comfortable playing alongside Nunez, and Liverpool has found a powerful front line that could cause Real Madrid a lot of problems.

However, the Reds must now hope that Darwin Nunez injury gets better to participate in the game. On Monday, Klopp will give another update during a press conference for the Champions League.

Klopp believes Liverpool cannot be complacent but was pleased to beat Everton and Newcastle in a week.

He added: “We are not in a position where we can have a big mouth and say. ‘We are here’. It is obvious we are in a better place than in a couple of weeks ago but we have to show consistency.”
