Leo Messi: Champions League Failings Tarnish Great Year

Leo Messi, who was recently named The Greatest, is the current World Cup champion and has scored 30 goals so far this season.

Leo Messi’s outstanding year was spoiled by their elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich. With Argentina, the ex-Barça player reached new heights by conquering the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. It was the only honour he lacked in his otherwise unparalleled resume, and it was also the greatest task he had yet to do.

Leo Messi, at age 35, was once again the best player in the world. At the World Cup, he was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), and FIFA later named him the Best Men’s Player in the World once again. He earned it with his 30 goals and 20 assists for Argentina and PSG this year.

On the other hand, Messi has fallen short once again in the Champions League. Since winning his fourth Champions League in 2015. He has been eliminated eight times in a row: six times with Barcelona and twice with PSG.

“I came to PSG to win titles and, in particular, the Champions League,” said Messi in an interview. He is aware, however, of the difficulty involved: “Winning the Champions League is complicated, any detail can knock you out. It is not always won by the best.”
