Real Madrid has made another addition to their squad, this time securing the loan signing of former Castilla player Joselu from Espanyol. The 33-year-old striker joins Real Madrid after a successful individual season with Espanyol, where he scored 17 goals in La Liga Santander despite the team’s relegation.
Joselu returns to Real Madrid. He was associated with the club from 2009 to 2012. Predominantly playing for their B team, Castilla. Although he only made two appearances for the first team under Jose Mourinho during that period, Joselu aims to contribute as a valuable squad player in the upcoming 2023/24 season.
With experience gained from playing for various clubs including Hoffenheim, Eintracht Frankfurt, Hannover, Stoke City, Deportivo de La Coruna, Newcastle, Alaves, and Espanyol, Joselu brings a wealth of knowledge to the team. Throughout his career, he has amassed 470 professional appearances, scoring an impressive 148 goals and providing 39 assists.
Joselu’s recent achievement includes helping the Spanish national team secure victory in the Nations League by scoring the winning goal against Italy. Real Madrid officially announced the loan deal, stating that Joselu will join the club for the upcoming season, with an option to buy at its conclusion.
The club’s statement also mentioned that Joselu started his journey with Real Madrid’s youth academy at the age of 20 and made his first-team debut in 2011. In light of his recent international success, where he won the 2023 Nations League, Joselu will present himself as a new Real Madrid player on Tuesday, June 20, at 11:00, at Real Madrid City. Subsequently, he will address the media regarding his move to the club.
