Thursday night marks the commencement of an intriguing and extraordinary NBA Finals series in Denver. Where the top-seeded Nuggets, led by Nikola Jokic, will face off against the upstart Miami Heat, featuring Jimmy Butler.
Although the Nuggets and the Heat do not share a historical rivalry. An incident occurred between the two superstar players during a regular season game in 2021. This adds an extra layer of anticipation to this matchup. On November 8, 2021, Jokic forcefully pushed Heat forward Markieff Morris during the fourth quarter. Resulting in Morris being sidelined for four months and Jokic receiving a one-game suspension.
In response, Butler defended his teammate and confronted Jokic on the sidelines. Jokic subsequently expressed remorse for his actions. However, the intense confrontation from that incident could potentially reignite a rivalry between the two stars in this year’s NBA Finals.
